From Wonderful to March Madness!
Well it’s been a whirlwind couple of weeks. I first want to share one of the best parts of being an Expat Mom, and that’s having family come visit you. We were lucky enough to have family friends visit us for a week in Zurich and once wonderful. To get to show them where we live, our favorite cafe spots and just the country was so exciting. I also think I hadn’t had that much adult conversation in months. lol. I wish all of my family could come see where we live and where my little B was born.
So....from an amazing week to then at 2 am call on Thursday morning, saying the US borders were closing soon. We quickly booked a ticket to fly back the same day as our family, which was all so crazy. I had 24 hours to pack for B and I and spend together as a family and then we were off leaving my husband behind to close the apartment and keep working.
Next we had 2 weeks of quarantine, which I don’t think we would’ve managed very well by ourselves. Thankfully we were able to stay with the family that had just visited with us. It was so nice to have the extended time with them especially for B.
We have missed Zurich and more so our family being together. We miss the mom classes, coffee time together and seeing our little one‘s play together while we chatted. I see my daughter wanting to play with other kids and it’s heartbreaking. B knows some sign language and when she told me she was sad the other day, I almost burst into tears. To think an almost 2 year old is sad, because she misses her daddy, friends and home is not easy. This virus effects all of us in one way or another.
After a week of isolation and getting ready to see my parents i’m hoping B will be happier to have more family around. I know for me I will be happy to see them, and appreciate the time we have before we then leave to head back to zurich or somewhere else.
These days have made me see that worrying about little things is not relevant and certainly appreciate life for what it is.
